Simeon, Thornton To Play For Thornwood Sectional Title

Simeon and Thornton will lock up for the Thornwood sectional title in a game that figures to be intense.

Simeon is coming off an impressive win over a strong Chicago Marist team, and will again look for Evan Gilyard (UTEP), Talen Horton-Tucker and Kezo Brown to lead the way.

Thornton is on a roll and is fresh off of knocking of Chicago Brother Rice to advance. Senior guard Alonzo Verge has turned his game up a notch over the past couple of months, and he will be looking to add a signature win to his resume. 6’7 junior Orlando Allen will also factor.

Simeon will look to slow down Verge, who scored 43 points against Bloom in the regional final, and 24 against Brother Rice in the sectional semifinals. Thornton will need a big game from Verge as a playmaker for himself and others to overcome Simeon’s depth.

The winner will face the Edwardsville/Danville (Ottawa sectional) winner next Tuesday in the ISU Super-Sectional.
